Conceptual photographer, Andrey Kezzyn works and lives in Berlin. As an autodidact with a diverse professional background, he decided in 2004 to follow his passion and fully work as a professional photographer. With his unique work, he creates staged and dramatic photography which he describes his style as “post cabaret punk”.

A director in his staged photographs
Andrey Kezzyn’s photographs depict real-life stories that he combines together in one storyline. His studio becomes a stage and his photographs can be perceived as movie scenes that have never been shot. With this Andrey Kezzyn’s role changes from photographer to director and he creates ironic, emotional, provocant scenes. He gets his inspiration from movies and any kind of stage performances.

Post cabaret punk
In his narratives, Andrey Kezzyn creates and designs the scenes himself and works together with costume and stage designers. The set and make-up are hand-made. The costumes and props have been tucked away on the shelves of the studio and can be used again for another shooting. The displayed protagonists are models and actors that fully capture the characters of the roles in his photographs.

International recognition
Andrey Kezzyn has exhibited in various exhibition places in Russia such as St. Petersburg, Rostow and Samara. His works have been also presented in metropoles all over the world such as Amsterdam, Basel, Berlin, London, Milan, Prague and Paris. Recently he exhibited in New York City (Context New York at Pier 94. Context NY., 2017) and South Korea (YAP’17 in Daegu, 2017). He participated in international art fairs such as Scope Miami Beach (2016), Berliner and Kölner Liste (2017) and Scope Basel 2017.
